Our story
Porter started with a simple observation: every UK workplace we walked into still had a paper sign-in sheet at the front desk. Names half-written, phone numbers nobody could read, fire evacuation lists that nobody trusted.
The software solutions to this problem all looked roughly the same, built for global enterprises with 50,000 employees, priced at £200/month per location, packed with features nobody at a typical office actually uses, and missing the few things that really matter. SMBs ended up either paying way too much for what they needed, or staying on the paper sheet because the alternatives were laughable.
We built Porter to fill the gap. An iPad kiosk that visitors can check themselves in on. Hosts notified by email, Slack or Teams the moment their visitor arrives. A live evacuation roll call when the fire alarm goes off. Contractor compliance tracking. GDPR-compliant data retention. Multi- location. One tool rather than four, starting at £29 a month excl. VAT.
We're a small team based in Leeds. You will be talking to the people who build it, not to a tier-one queue. We ship what the people using it ask for rather than what an enterprise committee decides. And we don't take a penny we haven't earned by making somebody's working day simpler.
What We Stand For
Four principles, no exceptions
Simplicity over features
Every feature has to earn its place. If it adds complexity without clear value, it doesn't ship. We'd rather do 10 things brilliantly than 100 things adequately.
Honest pricing
No hidden fees, no surprise charges, and the core check-in flow, the visitor log and the fire roll-call are on every plan including the cheapest. Higher tiers add capacity and the heavier tools (contractor compliance, pre-registration, the API) rather than unlocking things you were already paying for.
Privacy by default
Your visitor data is yours. We hold it in the EU, you control how long it is kept, and you can export it or request deletion at any time.
UK-based support
Raise a ticket in-app or by email and a real UK person answers, in your timezone and in plain English. No scripts, no offshore call centres, and a Microsoft Teams call whenever you need a proper walkthrough.
